James Cameron’s epic adventure
February 15, 2010
I need to talk about an amazing revolution in Hollywood started in 2005 but the idea of it was made in 1995 by James Cameron, the director of Titanic. I need to talk about the movie AVATAR.
I watched it in cam version (disaster for some people) but for me the movie kept its amazement.. I shouldn’t see a movie like this on flat screen with cam version but I couldn’t wait after all that reviews I’ve read.
AVATAR is the most beautiful movie I’ve ever seen.. everything in the movie was literally alive and real. I wanna talk about the story for a bit because some have been saying to me “the story is so ordinary” but let me tell you something, for me, the idea of “humans are aliens” on somebody’s planet is a hard concept to reach in details. So it wasn’t that “ordinary” for sure. But it talks about peace, freedom, love, and more. It reminds us why we’re humans not animals. When I read the summary of the story I thought “ok this should be perfect for a video game, but for a movie?” but I was in shock of how they did make it the perfect story for a film.
I’m gonna talk “Graphics” now ![]()
James Cameron created Pandora (a planet similar to earth) which was impressive. The idea of Pandora (mounts – fountains – rainy woods – animals – etc) it’s CONCRETE and I was trying to convince my self over and over again that what I’m actually viewing wasn’t an animated film, because it looks like that but I don’t feel the same way, and I was right. It’s not an animated film and that’s why I felt the movement of the characters. Cameron used CGI (the same technology that used in Benjamin Button) and I guess that Cameron started working on his project after Benjamin’s project because they both started at the same year 2005. In that year, CGI was just discovered by Benjamin’s group (I’m talking about the developed one) but I think that Cameron took the whole advantages of this new technology. He used it in every way possible that you facilely believe he took his work to a real planet call Pandora. The portrayal of Pandora’s Paradise make you eager to live in that environment.
The concept of AVATAR’s machines and world.
It’s CRAZY CRAZY concepts, I’ve never seen like it before.. the helicopter is all new stuff with that unique design and the powersuit was magnificent, the Tree of Souls was something imaginary. There’s an element of artifice that’s very hard to describe.
Done some researches and photos of AVATAR artworks and I found these photos I wanna share. Enjoy…

Congratulations on the new blog
It’s interesting that you still liked it even after watching it in a non-ideal situation. But you owe it to yourself to either watch it in 3D, or in HD when the Blu-Ray comes out.
I saw it last week and was blown away like everyone else.
Regarding the CGI, several top CGI workshops worked on the movie together. The world was mostly created by Weta, who worked Lord of The Rings. The machines were done by ILM, which is probably the top CG studio (Star Wars, Transformers, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean…etc). Heck, even Photoshop was created by ILM Visual Effects Supervisor John Knoll and his brother Thomas.

I promised my self to watch it on Blu-Ray ’cause it’s worth it even if I watched it million times before.
I’m surprised with those huge amounts they’ve reached in rendering and employing, so Weta had to work side by side with Industrial Light & Magic for the completion of the battle scenes and its series directorial.
Thank you so much, Jihad
